FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH
Are you researching your family history or local history?
The Steep church registers project
The registers of baptisms, marriages and burials that took place at All Saints’ Church, Steep from 1610 to the present are in the process of being digitised by a team of local residents.
It is hoped that the registers information will eventually be available to everyone. It lists, in Excel spreadsheet format, all the past entries in the church registers.
For the benefit of family history researchers and others, the registers information may then be posted on the church website: www.steepfroxfield.com - for everyone to access.
In the meantime, if you have enquiries about family history, or other matters about the history of Steep village, please email [email protected] who can let you have the registers information pertaining to your enquiry.
Copies of all the entries in the Steep church registers are presently also available as follows:
At Petersfield library – in microfiche format
At the Hampshire Record Office, Winchester – in microfiche format
Sadly the microfiche copies of the very early registers are difficult to read.
